TAX DEDUCTIONS ON MEDICAL EXPENSES
You can deduct medical expenses for yourself, your spouse, or any of your dependents as long as the expenses exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. While there is a broad range of medical expenses that are deductible, cosmetic surgery is not deductible unless it is related to a disfigurement from an accident or disease. Other nondeductible expenses include nonprescription drugs, enrollments in weight and fitness clubs, and doctor prescribed rest.
Most other expenses are deductible if the cost was incurred to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.
